As we move
through March and welcome spring, this newsletter provides
information on the many activities and projects planned for this
year. You are encouraged to participate in the activities, come
out and help with some of the many projects, and to come and
participate in our regular monthly meetings. The names and
numbers of the club leadership are listed should you have any
questions or needs.
CLUB
PICNIC
- The Annual Club Picnic will be Sunday, July 15th.
All members and their immediate family are invited. The club
will provide the food, beverage, and games for the kids. There
will be volleyball for everyone 12 and over beginning about
1:00, and the kid's games will begin at 3:30. We'll eat at 5:30.
Hope to see you there.
CHICKEN
DINNERS
- The dinners will be held on the first Saturday in June, and
third Saturday in August. Tickets are limited and prior year
ticket holders have the opportunity to purchase tickets first.
Purchase your tickets from the same person you purchased them
from last year. The cost is $25 per ticket this year, and $5 for
your guest. The weekly drawings will also be in the amount of
$25.
HORSESHOE
LEAGUE
– Look for the sign up sheet on the bulletin board sometime this
month, and will remain posted through April. The league is for
members only, with the team draft in May. Play will be on
Thursdays beginning the end of May or the first of June.
MONTHLY
MEETINGS
- Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at
8:00 P.M. All members are encouraged to attend and get involved
in your club.
MEAT
SWEEPSTAKES
- Each member will receive a book of tickets with this
newsletter. The winning number will be drawn after the meeting
on Monday, May 21st. NOTE: there is no Dollar
amount printed on the tickets. We would appreciate a $1.00
“gift” for each ticket. We must print our tickets this way to
meet postal regulations. Please return all ticket stubs and
“gifts” as well as any unsold tickets to the club by Saturday
May 19th. Please make all checks payable to: HAPPY
HUNTERS P.O. Box 2 Fenelton, Pa. 16034. For
additional tickets contact: Harley Swigart at 724-445-2589.
Proceeds from our raffles offset the expenses of the club, and
help ensure that the annual dues can be held to a minimum. All
members are expected to do their part by selling all their
assigned tickets.
CLUB
FACILITIES
- All facilities are reserved the Saturday and Sunday preceding
the regular monthly meetings for member use ONLY. The club
will not be rented for any reason to anyone on these
reserved weekends. FOR SAFETY REASONS, the Rifle Range will
be closed at 11:00 A.M. until dark on the day of any Lucky
Target Shoot. Signs have been posted "Prohibiting All
Alcoholic Beverages on All RANGES". The basement is open to
members at all times. For members at least 21 years of age, a
key for the basement door and rifle range (same key) can be
purchased by coming to a meeting or by contacting Don Neff at
724-894-2021.
CLUB
ADDITION
– The new addition to the clubhouse is nearing completion.
After nearly nine months of hard work by small group of club
members, we have a beautifully renovated clubhouse that is
nearly doubled in size. “You’ve gotta see it to believe it.”
To all that have donated your time and talent, THANK YOU!
CLUB
RENTALS
- Rental Day for 2007 was held in January. A lottery drawing
was held to assign rental dates for this year. Please see your
fall newsletter for the drawing date for 2008.
Call Dave
Zaludek at 724-445-2568 for remaining dates available for 2007.
RETIRING
OLD GLORY
– U.S. flags
should be displayed with pride and patriotism, and when worn or
tattered, they should be disposed of properly. Club member Gene
Wise will take care of that for you. Simply give Gene a call at
724-285-7917 for more information.
RABIES
CLINIC
– The HHSC will again host a rabies clinic
sponsored and conducted by Animal Partners. The tentative date
is Sunday October 14th from 2-4PM. Watch the
bulletin board and fall newsletter for updates.
CLUB
JACKETS
- can be purchased at T-Shirt and Sew On, 106 N.
Main St., Butler Pa. 16001. Price range: $45-$60 depending on
size. Many colors are available.
JR.
CONSERVATION SCHOOL
- Any member’s Son or Daughter (ages 14-16) that would like to
attend this weeklong school, please contact Robert Stephenson
at 724-283-9199. The course dates are normally in July. This
school is a great opportunity for someone this age. The club
will pay the sponsorship fee.
HUNTERS
SAFETY COURSE
– We will have a Hunter Safety Course this year. The course
will be July 12, 12, 14. Thanks to all club members that agreed
to get involved, get trained, and will be the instructors for
the course. We have four instructors now, but going forward we
will need to have at least eight trained. If you are willing to
help, let Tom Young know at 724-287-5948.
WORK
NIGHTS
- Every Wednesday evening from 5-9 PM. No other club activities
are permitted during those hours.
The sign-up sheet
posted on the bulletin board produced some new faces as well as
our “old faithfuls”. They are listed below for the 2006
committees. Thank you to all who have served and continue to
serve, and to all of you who have indicated your willingness to
be an active member in the club.
